Spring Fashion: The Safari Trend

Whether you want to call it a mere trend or a bonafide classic, the Safari look abounds for spring. Pockets, belts, buckles and snaps are everywhere, and some of the wild and wonderful patterns lurking in our urban jungle are arresting.

From blouses to bags, attention-getting animal prints are as playful as ever, and reptile fabric embossing is the newest rage, resulting in some fantastic textures.  Natori’s come up with a stunning little black dress and matching jacket in a sumptuous fabric that has a glamourous, reptilian vibe, and  Hilary MacMillan’s vegan leather, ivory trench coat with matching skirt and cropped pants simply screams sexy snakeskin.

Look for animal print silky dresses too: The gorgeous ones from both Tracy Moore and Vanessa Williams are the season’s must-haves, and Pink Tartan has a couple of leopard print, bow blouses that will definitely rock your wardrobe.  In the accessories department, a little leopard or reptile print particularly goes a long way in making memorable statements for the season.

The small, leopard neoprene bag from “Save the Bag” is the perfect exclamation mark for any outfit this spring.  I’m also loving Amy Kestenberg’s exotic fringed bags, the coolest accessories for strolling through the forest—especially the one with the detachable, African weave, cross-body strap.

You’re also going to adore the hot, zebra print beachwear from La Blanca.  And there’s more zebra print to delight you on the hair calf, slip-on sneakers from Clarkes.  Trekking through the tropical bush, or strutting through that urban jungle, has never been more empowering!
