Dinner at her favourite restaurant may be out of the question, but that doesn’t mean this Mother’s Day can’t be one for the books. We’ve come up with a few creative ideas to help you plan a fabulous day for your mom!
Make a homemade card
Instead of giving a store-bought letter this year, use the extra time on your hands to create a homemade masterpiece ̶ even her grandkids can help! We recommend getting a large sheet of paper, folding it half to create a card and using supplies you can find in the house to spell out MOM in big letters on the front. Once you’ve glued your custom artwork down, dedicate the inside to handwritten messages and drawings from each member of the household. Even if you can’t give it to your mom because you’re isolating in separate homes, you can send her a picture of it and then give it to her when you see her again!
Surprise her with brunch
If you’re lucky enough to be self-isolating with your mom, surprise her with a beautiful spread put together by the rest of the family. Don’t forget to prepare her favourite brunch drink to really make her feel really special. Depending on the beverage, you can have fun rimming her glass with sugar, sparkles, flavoured salt, melted chocolate… the possibilities are endless!
Plan a virtual Mother’s Day celebration
Chances are mom misses spending time with you and your family. Plan a virtual visit with mom so she can visit with the grandkids, and then coordinate some 1:1 time with you and your mom for some uninterrupted laughs with her over drinks and snacks!
Complete an outdoor gardening task
Has your mom mentioned a garden chore or outdoor task she’s been wanting to get done? Wow her by checking it off her list. You can still maintain quarantine by doing yard work for her while she stays safe inside. You can even surprise her with a little something extra in the garden when you’re done!
