Renee Deighton delights TSC shoppers with her charismatic personality! We recently sat down with Renee to learn more about her!

How did your mom/dad influence the person you are today?

My parents were supportive and encouraging in everything I did. They never missed an event or competition my brothers or I participated in. My dad is the eternal optimist. He finds the bright side of everything. I have not heard him utter an unkind word. I try very hard to be this way. It has helped me in life to over come many challenges. I’ve learnt from him Life is what you make it. You can choose to let it get you down or choose to figure out how to pick yourself back up. Thanks dad.

What’s your favourite room to spend time in at home?

The kitchen because some of life’s best moments happen there. I learn more about what is going on in my kid’s lives around the table or across the island. When you share a meal or preparation of it people connect and speak more. It is also the hub of the house where I have shared the best and worst of life over a cup of tea with friends. Cooking is also something I enjoy when I have the time. I love my Kitchen.

What would your pets say about you?

We have a zoo in our house. Two dogs ( two Granddogs and two grandcats that visit often) We have bunnies, a hedgehog, geckos, hamsters and fish. The dogs are my fur babies. They would say that they follow me wherever I go in the house. They would say they love to cuddle on the couch with me and that I spoil them. They would also say that they are well loved.

Do you have a hidden talent?

I’m not so sure it is hidden. I love to sing and dance. I use to do big musical theatre for a living. I still love to belt out a tune and shake a leg on stage. This year I went back on stage for the first time in 23 years. I played Mrs. Potts in a production of Beauty and The Beast. I also got to do it along side my youngest daughter who played Belle. It was a mothers dream come true.

Who would play you in a movie of your life?

Drew Barrymore. I think we have a similar quirky personality and don’t take life too seriously.

What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten?

”Be yourself, everyone else is taken.”

I always strive to be me. Some people will like it and some people won’t and that’s OK. You have to like who you are. The most important person you have to answer to is you.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

People who are unkind. We have enough to deal with in life. We should all spend more time uplifting people instead of tearing them down. Kindness is under rated and I cant stand when people go out of their way to complain and be mean.

What’s your favorite holiday?

Besides Christmas it is Halloween. I go all out decorating the house. I do a full on graveyard and add a new animatronic each year. It is the creepiest house in the neighbourhood. I have a girl on a swing who has a head that turns and she sings Ring around the rosie in a bone chilling voice. She is just one example of my crazy animatronics. I am up to about 10 now. I book Halloween off every year. We get over 500 kids each year and in nice weather we have had up to 800. I just love doing it.

Are you a tea or coffee person?

100% tea. I don’t drink coffee but I have an entire cupboard full of different teas. It is my go to for comfort and how many a life challenges have been discussed over.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

My family. No explanation needed. If I had to chose an item it would be my Dyson Stick Vac!
