In Conversation: Elizabeth, Marion and Margot of Elizabeth Grant International

In case you missed it: TSC is celebrating 20 years of Elizabeth Grant! We caught up with Elizabeth, Marion and Margot of Elizabeth Grant International to learn more about 3 generations of beauty.

1. If you weren’t in the beauty and skincare industry, what would you be doing?

Elizabeth: I would be doing stand-up comedy which is my forte. To me, making people laugh and making them happy is one thing I adore doing.

Marion: I would be writing books. I love, love, love being lost in the pages of a good book whether fiction or not there is something so powerful and magical about the written word.

Margot: I would be throwing events, whether for charities or weddings, or just people I love. I love the little details and taking the stress away from someone for a magical, effortless and unforgettable evening.

2. What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

Elizabeth: I go into the bathroom and do what everyone else does in the bathroom. The first thing I do is brush my teeth and put on my serum. The very first thing I do, gospel truth, and the last thing I do at night, I will never miss a minute.

Marion: I stretch and I smile and I say “it’s another beautiful day.” I am very happy when I wake up in the morning. There’s no better start to the day than being happy. It sets the tone that no matter what happens, happiness can remove the darkest cloud or most challenging hurdle. A fabulous way to start the day.

Margot: Take 5 seconds. 5 seconds to breathe, 5 seconds to stretch and 5 seconds to just become aware of where I am. Followed by a strong cup of coffee.

3. What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?

Elizabeth: My mother always, always, always said dress in your best clothes as if you are going somewhere special because you can make every day special.

Marion: It’s going to be ok. No matter how bad things are. It can only go up.

Margot: Be kind. No matter if it is easy, no matter if the situation makes you angry, be kind. No one in life said the right thing to do was the easy thing to do. But this world and people in general right now need more love and more kindness. Remember we have no idea what someone else is going through or why they are the way they are but with communication, kindness, and love you can help change the world for the better.

4. What’s on your bucket list right now?

Elizabeth: Before I die I have a message for the entire family, when I pass on to another planet, after I have gone, wait until summer and nice evening with the stars shining brightly I want my family to look up and see the brightest star and know I am looking down on my family and taking care of them. And adopt George Clooney.

Marion: Climbing Kilimanjaro. I really want to challenge myself, push myself and take it one step at a time. I fell in love with hiking and it’s something that is my own personal challenge: me against myself.

Margot: To explore as much of the world as I can, to learn as much as I can and to live the best life with more yes’s than no’s.

5. Where’s the last place you travelled to?

Elizabeth: England, to visit my sister.

Marion: A vacation in Prince Edward Island. I am so amazed by the hugeness and beauty of Canada. PEI was breathtaking and just a wonderful moment to appreciate the greatness of Canada’s wild beauty and rich history.

Margot: I travel always for work, but recently for pleasure I returned to Montreal. The city is so close to my heart because I lived there for close to 5 years while attending my Alma Mater, McGill University. I love Montreal so much. I think the Canadian backdrop has so much to offer in terms of beauty and adventure.

6. Why did you start (or join) Elizabeth Grant?

Elizabeth: If anything bad happens, from bad comes good. I want every person to look in the mirror and feel amazing and beautiful.

Marion: I was inspired to change my life. I was in my forties and ready for a new challenge, a new chapter a new adventure and to help encourage myself to take risks regardless of my comfort zone.

Margot: Because my mother and grandmother asked me to. They both said if I didn’t enjoy it I could leave any time I wanted. That was 12 years ago and I am so grateful I was given the opportunity to be part of a company that always encourages men and women to know they are amazing and beautiful just the way they are. In today’s beauty industry it’s always about what you are not, or that at a certain age you are “too old to matter”. I love that my grandmother and mother have encouraged women and men over the age of 45 to know they are the most and best and they matter. In today’s climate, I love being a part of a company that is the cheerleaders of ageing, three generations just say: “You are amazing. You are beautiful. You are worth it. You are amazing. And you will always be incredible.” There is too much negativity in the world, especially this industry and I am proud to be part of something that builds people up.

7. Of all the beauty products you’ve created, do you have a favourite?

Elizabeth: Yes, the Essence of Torricelumn™ (my absolute best friend for 70 years).

Marion: Well truthfully it is a tie: the Essence of Torricelumn™ (same as Elizabeth) and the Collagen Sleep Treatment Bi-Phase. The duo to me is unstoppable for a great skin day.

Margot: Wonder Effect Concentrate. That is everything to me and my at home dermatologist from wrinkles, pimples, dark circles, tired skin. I love a multitasker.

8. Describe your aesthetic in 3 words.

Elizabeth: Happy. Well groomed. Sophisticated.

Marion: Elegant. Comfortable. Casual.

Margot: Classic. Chic. With a little bit of funk.

9. Fill in the blank: _________ inspires me.

Elizabeth: Happy people inspire me.

Marion: Elizabeth inspires me.

Margot: Animal rescues inspire me. Especially the people and organizations that do not give up on the animals that feel they do not have a chance (older, sick, or pets with disabilities). Kindness that like just fills my heart and makes me wish I could have an animal sanctuary of my own.

10. Share one tip for someone looking to switch up their beauty routine.

Elizabeth: Use less makeup because less is better because too much is too much and the older we get when you wear too much you look older than you should. And of course: try Elizabeth Grant Skincare!

Marion: I believe in seasonal skincare, and I always say listen to your skin during the seasons and ask what it needs at that time.

Margot: First change how you speak to yourself, instead of pointing out your flaws or why you are not good enough point out what makes you beautiful. Self-love is the most incredible and powerful beauty routine in the world and we are not kind enough to ourselves, but we should be. Product wise: Our skin will always have different concerns at different times but try Elizabeth Grant! We have been around for 70 years for a reason, and have something for everyone, so what are you waiting for?
