How did your mom/dad influence the person you are today?
Wow, I could write an entire book on this one question alone. Mom and Dad were extremely hard working and dedicated in every way to achieving success for my sister and I. Coming from a third world country, and having the opportunity to “make it” in Canada, was at the heart of everything they did. I grew up understanding work ethic from them, and knowing that what you put into life, you will equally get out of it. Because of this, I give 110% to everything I set my eyes on. This includes my marriage, my health and parenting as well. On the flip side, my parents worked so hard that they didn’t really enjoy each other, or prioritize their health, so I try to focus on those same areas that could have used more of their attention.
Past or present: What’s your favourite TSC moment? (on-air)
My push up challenge with Justin (from Apple). He honestly didn’t know what he was walking in to…and not to mention we really do have a brotherly/sisterly bond. So much fun beating him.
If you had the chance to speak to a TSC customer reading this post right now, what would you say?
I really enjoy spending time with you, and hope that you receive my presence as genuine and heartfelt. To me, being on TSC is so much more than presenting you a product. I want you to take confidence in knowing that my goal is to make sure you smile, feel great and have as much information as you need to make an educated buying decision. I try my best to research every angle of my shows before hitting the air and try to think about all of the questions you would want answered. To me, if you feel good about your purchase, and your time with me, I’ve done my job
What’s your favourite thing about fall?
The colour!! The beauty of this season is so magical. The crispness of the mornings and nights, the season of gratitude, sweater weather, comfy throws on the couch while Netflix-ing, pumpkin patches, apple cider and of course all things pumpkin spice! What’s there not to love??
Flats or heels? (and why)
Heels of course! Have you seen how “tall” I am?? Heels are a necessity for me, if I’m going to be eye to eye with anyone. Plus they make your figure look that much better.
What’s your favourite room to spend time in at home?
The kitchen. I find solitude in cooking and recipe creation – it’s almost like a meditative place for me. I also love that the kitchen brings people together. You can learn a lot about someone and make incredible memories in the kitchen, even if it’s sharing a simple tea or glass of wine across the counter with someone you love.
What’s your favorite holiday?
Christmas hands down. My parents created the greatest memories for my sister and I growing up. From the baking, to handwritten Christmas cards being put into the mailbox, to heading downtown to the Eaton Center to see all the display windows dressed up, to the anticipation of the Santa Claus Parade. It was on this day (the Santa Claus Parade) that we would put up our Christmas tree at home. Dad would be in charge of hauling all the bixes up from the basements, choosing the music, hanging the lights, and making dinner; while us girls (including my mom) would decorate every square inch of our home. My dad was an enormous kid at heart, and up until the day he passed away, his favourite movie was Home Alone. It’s mine as well. Our enormous extended family equally enjoys Christmas as well, so it’s always filled with great memories. It’s a holiday I intend on making very special for my son as he grows up, and ensure that my dad’s memory lives on throughout this season as well.
Can you share a fitness tip?
This one is important to me. Just do it – which means, just show up. Focus on the goal today…not 3 months, or 1 year down the road. You will get there. The important thing is showing up and you will see the results. Please don’t think that my fitness journey is filled with ease. Most days I’d rather be doing anything else other than burpees, but I can tell you, to this day I HAVE NEVER regretted a workout – not one! You will always leave feeling better than you how you began. Consistency is KEY. Show up for no one else but yourself.
Do you have a daily mantra?
Progress not Perfection. This is the mantra I live by and applies to everything I approach in my life – from goals to relationships to fitness to finance. It stops me from procrastinating, getting too deep in my head and allowing myself to be human. It also helps me enjoy the process, which is the most important part.
What was the last gift you gave someone?
I give everyone I know the book “You Are a Bada$$” by Jen Sincero. This book truly changed my life and the way that I think about everything I approach each day. It’s a must read for anyone who wants to live an awesome, limitless, fulfilling life.
