Fall Fashion: Work to Weekend

The more open-minded we become about our lifestyles, and all the different ways we move through the world, the more our wardrobe lines begin to blur.  And one of the major driving forces in the way we like to dress these days is the desire for clothes that will really work for us, from solid, dependable basics, to those wonderful bits and pieces that feel as good as they look, make a hip fashion statement, and really mean business.

While the whole idea of fantasy is dear to the hearts of many fashionistas, every style maven appreciates those no nonsense classics.

This season, get ready for blazers and trench coats galore.  There’s even a cool new all-weather anorak from Pink Tartan (PT) that designer Kim Newport Mimran is calling a “Sherpa Coat”.  Now that’s utility chic!

And how about PT’s snap front A-line denim skirt, both classic and utilitarian, to compliment your  practical assortment of great-fitting pants and jeans?  Few do pants better than the celebrated NYDJ (Not Your Daughter’s Jeans), and TSC is thrilled to be offering that much-loved  brand for the first time on this week’s ‘Style Matters’.

Of course we all love our classic, simple pull-on jeggings, jeans and slacks, but this season, we also pay homage to an array of snaps and zippers, with a new appreciation for pockets too.  And we’ve got climate change on our minds with those great little quilted vests, which have become classic wardrobe staples. Now they’re meant to also be mixed in unexpected ways.

Of course when it comes to those handbags that we practically live out of, this season also celebrates the notions of classic remix and utilitarian chic.  Amy Kestenberg’s bold, quilted clutches make for the perfect urban warrior accessories.

And again, all those zippers, buckles, snaps, chains and pockets, often teamed with metallic tones, hit all the right notes in our ‘work to weekend’ wardrobes.

This fall, just keep comfort, practicality, and ever-chic classicism in mind and there’s no question you’ll be on trend!
