We caught up with Doris Dalton, founder of Doll 10 Beauty to learn more about her beauty story!
If you weren’t leading Doll 10 Beauty, what would you be doing?
Honestly, I can’t imagine doing anything else. I’m so proud of the community of confidence that we’ve built and developing new products for my Dolls that really impact their lives. This is my true calling and what I was born to do. But, if I had to choose something else, it would be related to animals in some way. I love my animals more than I can describe and helping animals is a cause near and dear to my heart. I’d probably open a shelter for pets in need.
What’s the first thing you do in the morning?
I usually wake up around 7:30 am and get my coffee going. I’m a coffee addict and I need at least 3 cups until I feel like my brain turns on. Then I head to feed my animals. I have 2 dogs and then I take care of a community of feral cats that live near my home. I get their food prepared and get them all fed and happy. It’s the best way to start the day.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
My mom ingrained in me that I could do anything I wanted to if I just put my heart into it, work hard and never give up. She is such an inspiration to me and she lived the advice she instilled in me. She worked full-time, took night classes to further her career and maintained a household of four children. To this day, whenever I am going through something, I call my mother and she always has the right words.
What’s on your bucket list right now?
I’ll be celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary this year, so I’d love to go back to Hawaii with my family, which is where my husband and I got married.
Where’s the last place you travelled to?
Canada for our shows! I love visiting with our Canadian Dolls and I always have to stock up on those maple cookies on my way home! We are addicted to them at the office.
Why did you start Doll 10?
After surviving a rare cancer 10 years ago, I faced a stranger in the mirror that just wasn’t me. I had lost my brows and my hair wasn’t far behind. My skin was ravished, and it was at that time that I found my purpose. I went to battle for myself and countless other women like me to reclaim my sense of self. I wanted to design easy to use products that were also skin-friendly in which women could steal 10 minutes to get dolled up and feel their best. I wanted to inspire confidence through the power of makeup.
Of all the beauty products you’ve created, do you have a favourite?
Hydralux foundation. I am so proud of this formula because it is the first and only foundation on the market that is clinically proven to improve the appearance of the skin over time. It’s a hybrid of a foundation that acts like skincare which is really why it’s so incredible.
Describe your aesthetic in 3 words.
Hmmm…this is a tough one but I would say it’s a mixture of comfy, classic and elegant. I always like to look put together, but not overdone. Comfort is my # 1.

Confidence inspires me! I love looking and feeling my best and inspiring other women to have that confidence through makeup. It brings me so much joy. When we feel good, we look good! I like to call it #TheDolledUpEffect.

Greetings Doris, welcome to Canada! So glad you’re back, love all your products! Loaded up on your make up yesterday & today, can’t wait. Hope you develop a loose powder, like the Mirage Blending Powder you made when you were Dalton cosmetics. I loved the powder, but even more, watching you on TSC putting it on the models. You were hilarious giving the models rosey clown like cheeks then easily neutralized them with the Mirage Blending Powder. I was so excited when I found I had one left, amongst my older make up I had stored away.
I was watching an old Dean Martin CD of his TV entertainment series where he had guest stars appear, & it drove me nuts trying to think of who’s sense of humour he reminded me of, then it dawned on me it was you. Crazy, I know.

Do you use a moisturizer under the foundation.
What do you use to remove the makeup.
Will the lip shine trio bleed.

Hi Doris, I wanted to thank you for such amazing products. I’m 56 years old, I actually worked in the cosmetic industry for many many lol years, and worked for a very expensive line, and had access to many other lines. You can only imagine the collection I had. Well I’m here to say I’m a Doll 10 nut now. My husband was so happy when I cleared out all my makeup and now I only have Doll 10. I keep buying all the new products you have, and am now getting a nice collection. I really would love to see you bring your cosmetic bags to tsc I love the look of them and love the train case you have. Bring Canadian, I could order from your website, however sometimes customs make a mess of thing being brought into the country, and I would hate to see them ruined. Looking forward to the new brush collection you have out (like I don’t have enough brushes after 20 years in the business lol) but I know like all your other brushes they will be amazing, also looking forward to your new shadow palette, and everything else new you bring to us.

Hi Doris. My name is Jeanne and I am One of the newest members of the Doll Squad. I had watched you a lot during your visits to TSC and really enjoyed the shows. On this last visit I got brave and decided to get the showstopper kit. When it arrived, I was really surprised at how pretty everything looked. The rose-gold packaging of the products is very nice. The products all had very lovely, soft fragrances too. But the nicest surprise fo all came when, at the end of a rather long day (the end, that is, not the beginning) on the first day I used everything, I caught a glimpse of myself and EVERYTHING WAS STILL WHERE I PUT IT. The only thing I had reapplied during the day was my lipstick. The makeup still looked fresh, the mascara wasn’t down under my eyes and the blush still looked nice and rosy. Needless to say, I loved everything and am a convert. I hope to be ordering some other colors of the Smoothie lipstick. And hope maybe to see a blush that is a little more true red? Thanks for all the great things you’re producing!

I’m 56 years old and take care of my mom for 11 years that has dementia.
She is getting worse and living with me at home.
I’m a make-up nut. The only thing that puts me in a good mood is your make-up.
I also suffer from depression all my life so your doll 10 make-up makes me keep my glam look with not much effort. Your line is the only line that I’m not scared to try new items cause we are same age group and want that doll 10 look.
You are gorgeous with your pony tail and wow with your hair down. I will purchase more of your products especially when I see you demonstrate on you .
